About the CCRA

About Canadian Carbonization Research Association (CCRA)

The Canadian Carbonization Research Association (CCRA) was formed in 1965 to conduct research on behalf of Canada’s steel and metallurgical coal producers for the competitive advantage of the industry

The Association has corporate members from Canada’s major steel and coal mining companies and government members. Since 2011-12 one corporate member is from the USA.

The Association has a Technical Committee of industrial/ government experts that meets quarterly to review and plan research, and a Board of Directors to allot funds for all work.

Much of the research is done at NRCAN’s- CanmetENERGY laboratories in Ottawa which has complete facilities for modeling, laboratory, and pilot scale research into energy applications for metallurgical processes
